Looking for Therapy in Amsterdam?
**I no longer provide therapy in Amsterdam. I do offer online coaching for the expat community living in Amsterdam.
Coaching can help you to create your best life abroad and learn strategies to effectively interact with your thoughts and feelings so that they don’t hold you back from living this life. Many expats in Amsterdam enjoy working with me because I can understand firsthand some of the challenges that come with living in the Netherlands.
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy. If you need to work with a therapist then you’re welcome to contact me for referrals or to search the International Therapist Directory website for therapists specialized in working with international clients.
You can set up a free 30 minute consultation with me to discuss what you’d like to work on coaching and if my approach would be a good fit for your current concerns:
Although I’m originally from the United States, I lived in Madrid, Spain for 7 years prior to relocating to Amsterdam in 2016. My international training and experience working with clients from around the world, along with my own experience of living abroad, puts me in a unique opportunity to work with clients who are seeking counseling while living outside of their home country.
While living in Madrid I had a private therapy practice geared towards working with international professionals, entrepreneurs, expats, study abroad students and other individuals living a global lifestyle. I also worked as a psychologist at Madrid´s leading multilingual therapy clinic alongside psychologists from various parts of the world. I now offer therapy to individuals through my private practice located in Amsterdam.
Concerns that I treat in therapy include:
- Expat specific concerns
- Grief and loss
- Self esteem
- Stress management
- Eating disorders and body image concerns
- Communication and assertiveness skills
- Emotion intelligence and emotional regulation
- Personal development
I have experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I also frequently incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion into therapy. One of the first things we´ll work on in sessions is to help you to establish your therapy goals and to ensure that the treatment plan meets your individual needs and preferences.
